Tantallon House Bed and Breakfast facilities

Tantallon House has been graded as 4 Star with Silver Accolade accommodation. We have everything you need to have a relaxed and comfortable stay with unique offerings you won't find anywhere else. Our house is relaxing and spacious, surrounded by beautiful gardens and has views of Hadrian's Wall.

We also have great local knowledge, and are able to help you to explore the Hadrian's Wall area, either walking, cycling, by bike or car, helping you to make the most of your time with us. We have numerous maps and pamphlets available for all our guests to use too. Take a look at our beautiful owl Hoot, who lives in the aviary in our garden. Be sure to say hello to him when you come to visit!

Full size snooker table

On the top floor of our house we have a fantastic full size snooker table for bed and breakfast guests to use. Why not unwind playing a frame or two after your day exploring Cumbria and Northumberland? The table can also be used to play pool if you want a slightly easier and quicker game.

Free WiFi Internet

We have free wireless internet access for you to use at Tantallon House, this is available in all the bedrooms, and the lounge and dining room, so you can stay connected if you choose to.

Guest lounge overlooking Hadrian's Wall

We have a beautiful guest lounge for you to relax in after exploring the surrounding attractions. Breakfast, which is usually served in the dining room, may be served in the guest lounge which has fantastic views over Hadrian's Wall.

Washing and drying service for walkers and cyclists

We have a washing service available on request and a drying room for your walking, cycling or biking equipment to get you ready for your next day's exploring on Hadrian's Wall. A nominal charge will apply for each washing load.

Cycle storage, car and motor bike parking

We have a secure garage for overnight storage of cycles. We have ample car parking adjacent to our house, as well as a hard standing area for you to leave your motorbikes, which is not visible from the road. All cars, bikes and cycles are left overnight at your own risk. We are motorcycle friendly accommodation as listed on bike-stay.net.

Local amenities

Within walking distance of Tantallon House there are two pubs, one of which serves meals. An excellent carvery is offered at weekends at the Gilsland Spa Hotel's restaurant. In Gilsland the House of Meg tea rooms serves lunch and afternoon teas, and there is the Gilsland General Store with an ATM. At Slack House farm, there is an organic cafe serving Roman fare and homemade cheese. There are five tea shops within three miles of Tantallon House and there are a number of good restaurants and pubs which are further afield which we are able to recommend.
