The Haltwhistle Walking Festival dates have been announced for this year, as April 28th to May 7th. The hugely popular annual festival is a fantastic celebration of the amazing counties of Northumberland and Cumbria that are so close to the town. Our bed and breakfast in Northumberland is the perfect place to stay for the week, with our award winning accommodation. You could also consider staying at our brand new Cumbria cottage, which we have specially built for people who are looking to stay for a longer period.

The Quality in Tourism Assessor visited our Cumbria Cottage last week and we have just received her report. We were very pleased to receive the report as it was very positive as to what we have completed during the refurbishment over the past 18 months. Our Cottage is just part of the great Hadrian's Wall accommodation we offer at Tantallon House. We are a sound 4 star and some highlights from the report are as follows:

We have visited the newly refurbished Carvoran Army Museum just outside the village of Greenhead and located on the Hadrian’s Wall Trail, northwest of Haltwhistle.

Tullie House is an excellent Museum and Art Gallery located close to the centre of Carlisle, which isn't too far away from our Holiday Cottage on Hadrian's Wall. At the moment, they are refurbishing the basement rooms to create a major exhibition of Roman history and Hadrian’s Wall.

 We are very pleased to announce that following an Audit by Cumbria Rural Enterprise Agency just before Christmas and the subsequent submission of all our documentation i.e. policy, actions, system review etc, CREA has awarded us their Gold Award.

 Tantallon House offers some of the best accommodation on Hadrian's wall to its guest as it has a 4 star beautiful bed and breakfast and a new self catering holiday cottage. We have fantastic reviews from our guests on Trip Advisor, which we are very proud of and have also been mentioned in the times newspaper, and recently been voted accommodation of the year by macsadventure.

 We are delighted to announce that Tantallon house Bed and Breakfast has received another award! Macs Adventure who offer Hadrian's Wall Tours have just announced that we have been awarded accommodation of the year 2010. Out of 800 bed and breakfasts that they use, we have been place at number 4 - a fantastic achievement and one that we are very proud of.

 Last night we had about 3 to 4 inches of snow at our Bed and Breakfast and Holiday Cottage! This is the first snowfall we have had this winter but it is only November still (except for a smattering a few days ago). It looked absolutely amazing as you can see from the photographs I took.
