The Valley - Indian Restaurant in Corbridge
If you ever want to have a wonderful Indian meal, then go to The Valley in Corbridge. Although it's in Corbridge and some way away form us here at Gilsland (around 45 minuted drive), guests who recently stayed with us visited all the archaeological sites along the Wall from Gilsland to Chollerford and then went into Corbridge for their evening meal. The restaurant is located in the railway station building at Corbridge so it is easy to find. You walk into a comfortable lounge bar area with an open fire. Attentive service is on hand while you order a drink and choose from the extensive menu.
The main dining room is on the first floor and the popularity of the restaurant is visible as the rooms were full within a very short time from our arrival. We decided to order just a main course as from experience, this is more than enough to eat. We ordered a range of main dishes such as Chicken Korma, Chicken Madras, and and Murgh-e-Khazana (another chicken dish), as we like chichen dishes!, along with a range of side dishes such as Tarka Dahl (wonderful), Chana Bhuna (chick peas) (wholesome), Sag Bhagi (spinach) and Aloo Gogi (potatoes and cauliflower). All the dishes were beautifully cooked and had an exquisite flavour. Indian King Fisher beer was also available. The service was excellent. Our meal for 4 including drinks was about £65.
The Valley was awarded "Best in the North by The Curry Club of Great Britain. The restaurant is a real treat for anyone and a special place to go to eat Indian.
