Hadrian's Wall can be seen from our Bed and Breakfast rooms

Hadrian's Wall which can be seen from our bed and breakfast rooms was built by the Roman Emperor Hadrian in the year AD 122 as a defence against the Scots. Spanning from Wallsend in the East of Northumberland to the Solway Firth in the West of Cumbria, the wall ran for 73 miles. Hadrian's Wall which is now a World Heritage Site, stood at nearly 5 metres in height and there were 17 large forts about 5 miles apart, at Chesters, Corbridge, Housesteads near Haltwhistle, Carvoran at Greenhead and Birdoswald at Gilsland to name but a few as well as numerous milecastles.
