Haltwhistle Town

Today, Haltwhistle is one of the centres for visits to the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Beauty, Hadrian's Wall World Heritage Site and the Northumberland National Park. All are within a short distance of the town. It has a traditional high street with a range of shops and businesses, places to eat, cafes and public facilities. Haltwhistle is also about 16 miles from Hexham and is the largest town between Newcastle and Carlisle. The River South Tyne River runs to the south of the town on its way downstream to Newcastle and upstream to its source in the North Pennines.
